The Black First Land First (BLF) enigma

I’m currently looking at a Twitter dataset around the Public Protector. It’s so weird how Andile Mngxitama’s Black First  Land First (BLF) party and the Gupta media entities, ANN7 and The New Age, are always so closely tied together on Twitter (here’s a previous example that I posted about). They seem to be working to amplify each other. At the very least, they appear to be ideologically aligned.
 
BLF conveniently aligns itself against all of President Zuma’s foes. They believe that #PravinMustGo, that [Mcebisi] #JonasIsALiar and that Thuli Madonsela is an agent of evil capitalists (see their denouncement of her department’s state capture report even before its release here). All of their media messaging supports President Zuma’s current positions, and we all know about the relationship between the Guptas (owners of the BLF’s favourite media outlets) and the president. There even seems to be an emerging network of websites devoted to putting out the the BLF view, including Andile Mngxitama’s pseduo news-blog portal, Black Opinion, and Pinky Khoabane’s news site, Uncensored Opinion.
Is the BLF running interference for Zuma or are they just legitimately aligned on every major political point and thus throwing their lot in with our beleaguered president? It’s all a bit too convenient if you ask me…
